Yuvraj Singh, who had to skip the team’s practice session on Wednesday, was put through certain drills by team physio Nitin Patel in what appeared to be a fitness test.

Yuvraj had hurt his ankle while playing bare-footed football on Monday, raising concerns over his fitness ahead of India’s semifinal against South Africa on Friday. The southpaw, however, dispelled all those fears with active participation on Thursday’s training at Fatullah.

The Punjab batsman batted in two stints – first for about 15 minutes facing regular bowlers and then he took throwdowns from fielding coach Trevor Penny. Under physio Nitin Patel’s watch, the all-rounder had a sprint session, running the set 25-yard distance on three times before going through fielding drills.
