Apple has announced the launch of Invites, a dedicated application for iPhones to create and share personalised invitations to friends and families.

In India, it is customary for people to go to an individual's home to hand over the invitation personally for a wedding or a child's naming ceremony or housewarming ceremony, and other such family gathering programmes.

But in the post-Covid era, people, particularly in the cities, due to heavy traffic prefer to visit only selected homes. For the rest, they send e-invites developed by invitation card makers via messenger apps such as WhatsApp. However, there are fewer templates to choose from, and most of them look very generic with less option of adding any personal touch.

Now, with Apple's Invites' app, users can create and easily share fully personalised invitations. It has option for guests to revert with RSVP (répondez s'il vous plaît).

To get started, users can choose an image from their photo library or the app’s gallery of backgrounds. The latter offers a curated collection of images representing different occasions and event themes. It also offers integrations with Maps and Weather apps and this gives guests directions to the event and the forecast for that day as well.

Also, the Invites app supports generative Artificial Intelligence (gen AI)-based Apple Intelligence features-- Image Playground and Writing Tools.

With this, users can tap into the built-in Image Playground to create original images using concepts, descriptions, and people from their photo library. When composing invitations, users can use Writing Tools to help find just the right phrase to capture the essence of the upcoming programme.

Also, hosts get full control of their invite experience. They can easily view and manage their events, share invitations with a link, review RSVPs, and choose the details they want to be included in the preview, like the event background or a home address.

Guests can view and respond to an invitation using the new iPhone app or on the web without needing an iCloud+ subscription or an Apple Account.

After the event, the attendees can easily contribute photos and videos to a dedicated Shared Album within each invite to help preserve memories and relive the event over time.

Further, the users can even share their personalised Apple Music playlists with friends and family.

Interested iPhone owners can download Apple Invites from the App Store, or access it on the web through icloud.com/invites.
