Google has begun rolling out a new feature, 'Answer Now,' that fast-tracks the response to a query on the Gemini AI app.

Whenever a user asks a question, Gemini AI enters thinking mode, which takes several seconds, before it provides a very detailed response.

So, Google, in a bid to improve the user experience, has introduced 'Answer Now'. This is available on Gemini 'Thinking' and 'Pro' modes.

Here's how it works:

For instance, a user has asked a question--' What's the old capital of Kempegowda's (FYI, founder of the city) Bengaluru?' Gemini will go into thinking mode, scraping information from reliable sources on the internet. If the user wants a quick answer; he/she has to tap on the animated rolling Gemini icon, and there, you get the option 'Answer Now'. It will give a straight answer as 'Yelahanka'. If the user has patience and lets the Gemini give a detailed answer, it will offer several paragraphs of data on which year it was shifted and the reason behind moving the capital to Bengaluru.

This 'Answer Now' feature is being rolled out in stages and will take some time to reach all corners of the world.

In a related development, Google last week launched the new 'Personal Intelligence' feature.

It offers the option to users link their Gmail, Maps, Messages, Photos, Calendar, Keep, Notes, YouTube, Search and other related apps with Gemini, so that the AI bot offers more personalised answers for all queries.

"Personal Intelligence has two core strengths: reasoning across complex sources and retrieving specific details from, say, an email or photo to answer your question. It often combines these, working across text, photos and video to provide uniquely tailored answers," says Google.

For instance, once you get flight ticket confirmation, Gemini will mark it on the calendar. On the particular day, if there is a surge in traffic in the way, it will promptly remind you leave home early to catch the flight on time.

It should be noted that the user will have full control over which apps he/she wants to connect with Gemini app. They can leave out Messages app and let other apps linked to Google's AI bot app.

Currently, this feature is available in the US. It is expected to be expanded to more regions including in India in the coming months.
