Meta earlier this year launched Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based smart glasses of Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 and the Oakley HSTN AI glasses.
One of the perks of owning new-gen AI glasses is that they come with an in-built Meta AI feature, allowing users to ask queries such as the latest cricket scores updates, appointments in their calendar, and navigation routes, and receive instant answers.
In India, Meta AI initially supported Hindi and English; now, the Mark Zuckerberg-owned company has rolled out a new update to the smart glasses to support more local languages, including Kannada and Telugu.
Here's how to enable the language on Meta AI glasses:
Step 1: On the companion smartphone, open the Meta AI app >> Device Settings > Meta AI > Language and Voice
Step 2: There, Select Kannada or Telugu
Once enabled, Meta AI can respond in the selected language and assist users by helping them ask questions, obtain information, take photos and videos, answer calls and messages, and control music and media through simple voice commands.

Also, the AI Assistant supports celebrity voices. In India, the Meta AI bot will be able to respond in the voice of Bollywood actor Deepika Padukone.
Soon, Meta plans to release an update to enable UPI payments on smart glasses in India. Once updated, users can simply look at a QR code while wearing the glasses and say, ‘Hey Meta, scan and pay’ to complete a UPI Lite payment, without the need to reach for the smartphone. The payments will be processed through the user’s WhatsApp-linked bank account.
Recently launched Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 and Oakley HSTN AI glasses can be purchased on Amazon, Flipkart, and Reliance Digital and other authorised retail outlets in India with prices starting at Rs 39,900 and Rs 41,800, respectively.
Even the Ray-Ban Meta Gen 1 glasses with prices starting as low as Rs 22,000 are also widely available in the subcontinent.
