In August, Google introduced the advanced generative Artificial Intelligence (gen AI) Gemini 2.5 Flash Nano Large Language Model (LLM), code-named Nano Banana, in the Gemini AI app.

It was an instant hit among users worldwide. With the latest update, people can play with photos using the Reimagine feature. It can turn any mundane-looking photo into a fun, engaging piece of art.

It can be used to add a new outfit to a person or a pet. With the correct description, it can even turn a photo of a person into to 3D figurine packed in a laminated see-through retail package. This particular theme was trending for several weeks in September worldwide.

Here in India, with the start of the Dasara (aka Dussehra) festive season, people began experimenting to turn the photo with a regular outfit to traditional and retro looks of the 1960s and 1970s.

Now, Google has launched the Nano Banana AI editing feature in AI Mode on the Google Search application.

On Search, users can capture a photo with Lens (or select one from the gallery) and instantly transform the image with help from AI.

On phones (Android or iOS):

Step 1: Open Lens in the Google app and tap the new Create mode, look for the yellow banana!

Step 2: Try a suggested prompt, like 'make a photo booth pic of me.'

Or, snap a picture and describe the edits you’re looking for.

Step 3: Use follow-ups to keep editing, or share the image with family and friends.
