The new Ray-Ban Meta (2nd Gen) was first announced earlier this year in September, but was limited to select markets in the US and Europe. Now, it is available for purchase in the subcontinent at all authorised Ray-Ban stores.

The new model retains some design elements but comes with a host of improvements inside.

It is available in several popular styles, including the iconic Wayfarer, the modern Skyler, and the popular Headliner styles. The company is also introducing seasonal colours such as Shiny Cosmic Blue, Shiny Mystic Violet, and Shiny Asteroid Grey.

The first big upgrade coming in the new Ray-Ban Meta glasses is battery life. It can last for eight hours, which is double that of the predecessor.

Also, it supports fast charging. It can reach 50 per cent in just 20 minutes. The company is also offering a travelling charging case. It can boost the battery life of the glasses by an additional 48 hours.

Also, the camera has been improved. It can now record 3K Ultra HD resolution with sharper and smoother video. With the ultrawide HDR option, it can capture more vivid videos with up to 60 frames per second, and with over 2x more pixels than the previous generation.

Further, the glasses support live translations in six languages, including English, French, German and Portuguese.

Also, users can interact with Meta AI. He/she has to simply say, 'Hey Meta' to summon the Meta AI assistant.

Also, AI Assistant supports celebrity voices. In India, the Meta AI bot will be able to respond in Bollywood actor Deepika Padukone's voice. Also, with the Sarvam AI app installed on smartphones, Meta AI will also be able to converse in Hindi.

And, users interact with Meta AI entirely in Hindi for questions, capture content, control media, make calls, and get information from the internet and more.

And later in the year, the company will release an update to enhance the hands-free filming experience with two new capture settings: hyperlapse and slow motion.

The new Ray-Ban (Gen 2) will soon get an update to enable UPI payments in India. Once updated, users can simply look at a QR code while wearing the glasses and say, ‘Hey Meta, scan and pay’ to complete a UPI Lite payment, without the need to reach for the smartphone. The payments will be processed through the user’s WhatsApp-linked bank account.

The new Ray-Ban Meta (gen 2) AI glasses will be available with prices starting at Rs 39,900.
