The firmware update brings the second batch of Apple intelligence features including smart writing tools, ChatGPT integration with Siri and more.

The most significant feature of the coming in the new update is the Image Playground. With this, the iPhone will be able to conjure up synthetic images with text prompts. It will be available as a standalone app and will also baked into the iMessage app. Initially, it will offer three styles: Animation, Illustration, or Sketch.

Further, it also introduces the Genmoji feature to the Keyboard app. Here, users can generate personalised emojis with text descriptions.

The new iPhone-exclusive update brings Visual Intelligence. It offers information about objects and landmarks around the user. The iPhone owner has to open the camera and point towards a place and get details about it.

For instance, consider yourself walking through a street in temple town Udupi e and come across a restaurant and don't know how the food is. Just take the iPhone and point the camera towards the nameboard and the native camera app offers an option at the top, which offers menu, hotel timings and reviews. This can help users to make an informed decision before entering the hotel.

It should be noted that this feature is exclusive to the latest models only--iPhone 16, 16 Plus, 16 Pro and 16 Pro, which come with a dedicated camera control button below the wake button on the right side.

Similar to iOS 18.2 for iPhones, Apple is bringing iPadOS 18.2 to iPads. It gets a special Image Wand on the Notes app. Users can make good use of the Apple Pencil (2nd Gen), and Pencil Pro on supported iPads to create digital art.

Users have to do a rough sketch of an object and tap on the magical Image Wand feature to turn it into a photorealistic image. It offers three options--Animation, Illustration, and Sketch style.

As noted earlier, the Apple is bringing ChatGPT integration to Siri digital assistant and also Writing tools.

With ChatGPT integration, Siri can offer the user access to ChatGPT for certain requests, and Siri can provide the response directly.

It will be free to use, but the conversation with ChatGPT will be shared with OpenAI.

Every time the user asks a query to Siri, it will offer the option to connect with ChatGPT for a more refined response. The user can choose to get a response from Apple Intelligence as well.

With the Compose feature, users can ask ChatGPT-4o to generate content for anything they are writing about from the systemwide Writing Tools. Further, users can even make use of ChatGPT’s image-generation capabilities to add images alongside the written content.

However, this feature is limited to certain languages only.

In addition to US English, Apple Intelligence is expanding more localised English support for Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, and the United Kingdom.

Apple has revealed that Apple Intelligence support for more languages such as Chinese, English (India), English (Singapore), French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, and Vietnamese will be arriving in a software update in April.

Like in all Apple products, user privacy security is at the core of the Apple Intelligence feature.

Most of the Apple Intelligence features work on-device. For requests that require cloud connectivity to access larger models, Apple has set up Private Cloud Compute to protect the privacy and security of devices and their owners' details. Nothing is stored or shared with any third-party affiliates, not even OpenAI or Apple.
