As Apple nears the 20th anniversary of the iPhone (1st gen) launch in 2027, the Cupertino-based company plans to further expand the iPhone series.

If the sources of The Information are to be believed, Apple is expected to launch its first-ever foldable iPhone in 2027 along with iPhone 18 Pro, 18 Pro and slim version, which is likely to be called either iPhone 18 Slim or iPhone 18 Air.

And, in the following spring in 2027, Apple will host another event to bring the standard iPhone 18, 18 Plus and iPhone 18e, the successor of iPhone 16e.

The foldable iPhone design is almost finalised and Apple is expected to kick mass production in early 2026.

The iPhone 18 Pro series models will see changes in terms of the front camera. Apple is said to use in-display camera sensors to make the black notch disappear. Using the software, it can be masked. Samsung has already achieved that feat with its Galaxy Z Fold series models.

This year, Apple is said to host the fall event in September to launch iPhone 17, 17 Pro, 17 Pro Max and iPhone 17 Air, a first of its kind. The latter will replace the iPhone 16 Plus model.

The iPhone 17 Air will have an all-new slim design and is likely to measure just a 5.5mm thickness. Due to the design limitation, Apple may let go off the physical SIM slot, and the main camera will be smaller compared to the Pro models.

The upcoming iPhone 17 Air is expected to feature a 6.55-inch display and Apple may use a new type of high energy-density battery cell, which can store more power and occupy less space than compared to conventional phone batteries used in the current crop of premium phones.

The iPhone 18 Pro will get bigger cameras and improved Apple silicon to deliver faster and smoother performance over the predecessor.
