Apple continues its steady growth in India, to open new stores soon

In the previous quarter, Apple for the first time ever, broke into the top 5 smartphone brands list in India with a 10% share.

On Thursday (May 1), Apple announced financial results for its fiscal 2025 second quarter (January-March). The company reported $95.4 billion in revenue, up five per cent compared to the previous year's same period.

Though the growth is slow, the iPhone is bringing the major share of revenue to Apple. The iPhone revenue was $46.8 billion, up two per cent from a year ago.

Mac revenue was $7.9 billion, seven per cent higher year over year. The iPad saw double-digit growth, recording $6.4 billion in revenue, up 15 per cent from a year ago.

Wearables, Home and Accessories together recorded revenue of $7.5 billion, down 5 per cent from a year ago.

And, with Services, Apple achieved an all-time revenue record of $26.6 billion, up 12 per cent from a year ago.

In India, Cupertino-based technology major continues to register robust growth, primarily driven by iPhones and Mac. And, the company is all set to start more Apple Stores across major cities including Bengaluru, Pune, Delhi-NCR and Mumbai.

"We set a number of quarterly records in countries and regions across the world, including the UK, Spain, Finland, Brazil, Chile, Turkey, Poland, India, and the Philippines," said Tim Cook, CEO, of Apple.

Now, India is Apple's fourth biggest market after China, the United States of America and Japan.

Just a month ago, Apple released iOS 18.4, which brought Apple Intelligence to more languages including localised English to Singapore and India.

Some of the key Apple Intelligence features available in India include Writing tools, Genmoji, Image Playground, Image Wand, Clean Up, and Visual Intelligence. Apple also offers Siri integration with ChatGPT for better user experience.

With the introduction of new Apple Intelligence features, iPhones are expected to drive Apple's revenue in India further.

Amid the tax tariff war between the US and China, Apple plans to ship a vast percentage of 'made in India' iPhones will be headed to the US. Other major Apple products such as Mac PCs, iPads, Watches and other accessories headed for the US market will be shipped from Vietnam.

"For the June quarter, we do expect the majority of iPhones sold in the US will have India as their country of origin, and Vietnam to be the country of origin for almost all iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and AirPods products also sold in the US. China would continue to be the country of origin for the vast majority of total product sales outside the US," said Cook.
