Technology companies Xiaomi, Sonos, Microsoft and others launched laptops, smartphones, accessories, and more this week (May 5-11, 2025).

Xiaomi QLED TV FX Pro.

The new Xiaomi QLED TV FX Pro smart TV comes in 55-inch and 43-inch screen sizes with a QLED display in a bezel-less design. It promises to deliver lifelike colours, deeper contrast, and brightness. It supportsHDR10+ and can offer clear details and dynamic contrast, enhancing both bright and shadowy moments in the motion picture.
It houses custom-tuned audio architecture designed to bring cinematic sound delivery in the living room. It has 34W box speakers tuned with Dolby Audio, DTS:X, and DTS Virtual:X.
It is powered by quad-core A55 processor and 32GB storage, which promises smooth multitasking and lag-free app performance. It supports multiple connectivity options including three HDMI ports (including one with eARC), two USB ports, Bluetooth, and Ethernet.
The device comes with built-in Amazon Fire TV and supports more than 12,000 apps via the Amazon Appstore. Customers can stream thousands of movies and TV show episodes from popular services such as Prime Video, Netflix, JioHotstar, Zee5, and SonyLIV, many more OTT apps.
The company also introduced Xiaomi 4K TV FX. It supports 4K UHD picture quality and a premium metal bezel-less design with 55-inch screen. It boasts Dolby Audio and DTS Virtual:X to deliver clear, immersive audio in every corner of the room.

It comes with the Fire TV built-in, Universal voice search with Alexa, Picture in Picture technology, AirPlay 2, and support for over 12,000 plus apps.
Xiaomi 4K TV FX comes in two sizes-- 43-inch and 55-inch-- for Rs 26,999 and 36,999, respectively.
The Xiaomi QLED TV FX Pro comes in --43-inch and 55-inch-- sizes for Rs 27,999 and Rs 39,999, respectively.
Microsoft Surface Laptop 13, Surface Pro 12 series Copilot+ PCs

The new Surface Laptop 13 comes with a 13-inch PixelSense display with 1920x1280p resolution.
It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon X Plus octa-core silicon and can support 16GB RAM, 256GB/512GB storage. With a full charge, it can deliver up to 23 hours video playback or 16 hours of web browsing via Wi-Fi.
The Surface Pro 12 features a 12-inch PixelSense LCD display 2196x1464p resolution. It is also powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon X Plus octa-core processor, 16GB LPDDR5X and 256GB/512GB storage.
Both the devices run new Windows 11 OS. It comes with the new Start menu with a phone companion, AI actions in File Explorer, new capabilities in Notepad, and even more ways to interact with Copilot on Windows.
It promises improved third Party Experiences leveraging NPU and Microsoft Store on Windows experiences.
Additionally, Copilot+ PC experiences coming to Windows Insiders include: adding an agent to settings, more actions coming to Click to Do and improved Windows search, new Capabilities in Photos, Paint & Snipping Tool and updates to Narrator.
The new Surface Pro 12 Keyboard can dock easily and lie flat for a grounded and quiet typing experience. It features a smooth-matte palm rest for comfort and durability, a full-size backlit keyset and customisable precision touchpad with adaptive touch mode.
The new keyboard can fold back completely flat against the Surface Pro, so users can sketch or write comfortably. With dedicated keys like the Copilot key and lock key, the user has all the functions he/she needs, right at fingertips. The Surface Pro 12-inch Keyboard is available in three beautiful new colours to complement your Pro: Slate, Ocean and Violet.
The Surface Laptop costs $899.99 and the Surface Pro 12 is priced at $799.99.
Sony FE 50-150mm F2 GM Lens.

The new FE 50-150mm F2 GM, is touted to be the world’s first telephoto zoom lens with a maximum focal length of 150 mm and F2 aperture. This lens features a standard focal length of 50mm at the wide-angle end and combines an open aperture of F2 with a high resolution comparable to that of a prime lens.
With the F2 aperture, the lens can create beautiful smooth bokeh, making it an ideal choice for portrait, wedding, and event photographers aiming to isolate subjects with a shallow depth of field. It also features a newly developed 11-blade circular aperture which further enhances the signature G Master bokeh.

Tecno Android 15-based HiOS 15.

The new Android 15-based HiOS 15 is being rolled to old Tecno mobile phones in India.
It is said to offer the clean OS. The company has reduced pre-installed apps by 40 per cent, ensuring a lighter and faster response.
It also comes with new animations for smooth transitions, stylish AI-generated and dynamic wallpapers, and minimalist icons for a modern, clean interface.
The new HiOS 15 comes with Ella AI assistant. It can speak Hindi and will soon support Bengali, Tamil, Gujarati, and Marathi through OTA updates by the end of this year.
Also, it boasts of "Blank Data" feature to enhance privacy security. It can block apps from accessing personal information by apps.
On select phones with the latest hardware, HiOS 15 brings support for AI wallpaper generator, Vogue Portraits & Artboard features. Also, it brings the AI eraser, a photography tool to remove unwanted objects from the frame.
Google AI Exchange Program.

Google Cloud has launched the Gen AI Exchange Program — an initiative designed to equip developers with hands-on experience in generative AI.
The company will offer tools such as Gemini, Imagen, Vertex AI and access to experts to build an Artificial Intelligence-powered applications capable of solving real-world problems.
Last year, the Gen AI Exchange hackathon more than 38,000 developers participated. It had awarded a total of $40,000 to the most innovative and impactful solutions.

Samsung is expected to launch the new Galaxy S25 Edge next week on May 13. It is protected by Corning's Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2.
Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 features crystals intricately embedded within its glass matrix, enhancing the durability and crack-deflection capabilities of the display cover.
" The synergy between the glass and crystal components is engineered to provide improved toughness while retaining high optical transparency. As a key component in enhancing damage-resistance, Corning’s ion exchange process further fortifies the glass ceramic material and improves retained strength of the display cover," the company said.
