In the past couple of years, Motorola has registered a record growth in smartphone sales in India.
In 2024, thanks to the right positioning of multiple phones in different price brackets, Motorola registered a record 135.9 per cent growth. While the Moto G series caters to the budget segment, the Razr foldable phones have become popular in the niche ultra flagship premium categories. Motorola's Edge series is doing well in the premium mid-range segment.
It shows Lenovo-owned company is very focused on further increasing its market share. Now, it has introduced an all-new Edge 60 Pro in India. I have been using the device for a week and here are my thoughts on the Android handset.
Design, build quality and display
Like its predecessor, Motorola's latest offering Edge 60 Pro is one of the most elegant-looking phones in its class. It may not have the marketing tag of the slimmest phone, but it is visually more appealing than most rival brands.
It has a smooth curved display panel that cascades beautifully up to the mid-rail of the device on the right and the left sides.
The metallic frames with matte finish are sturdy and offer a nice grip for the fingers to hold onto the device firmly.

On the back, the company has used faux leather with a nice textured finish. Here too, it is of top-class quality.
Overall build quality and colour scheme aptly fit the name Pantone Dazzling Blue, our review unit. Motorola also offers the device in two other colours-- Pantone Shadow and Pantone Sparkling Grape. All three variants are really good in appearance.
On the front, the Edge 60 Pro sports a fantastic 6.7-inch 1.5K (2712 x 1220p) 10-bit pOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate, and offers up to 4,500 nits peak brightness.

It features quad-curved edges with ultra-thin bezels and has a 96.47 per cent screen-to-body ratio. It is perfect for consuming multimedia content and playing games indoors and even outdoors under a shade or a vehicle. However, with direct sunlight, one will face reflection issues.
The screen is protected by Corning's Gorilla Glass 7i shield and the device boasts US military-grade MIL-STD-810H durability protection and IP68+69 dust-and-water-resistant rating.

It also features dual SIM slots (type-nano), a Type-C USB port, an in-display fingerprint sensor, and stereo speakers tuned with Dolby Atmos audio system.
The in-display fingerprint sensor works smoothly with less false rejection rate.
One notable aspect of the device is that it comes with a dedicated button, which allows users to trigger digital assistants-- 1) Moto AI or 2) Perplexity. More on that in the below section.
Performance
The device is powered by 4nm class MediaTek 8350 Extreme processor with Mali-G615 MC6 GPU, 8GB/12GB LPDDR5X RAM, 256GB UFS 4.0 storage, and runs Android 15 OS.

It comes with a lot of Motorola apps and a handful of third-party apps in addition to Google's core apps.
The device works smoothly without any issues. It supports most of the generative Artificial Intelligence (gen AI) features such as circle to search, Gemini Live, Perplexity AI and CoPilot AI in addition to photography tools.
With Microsoft Copilot-powered Moto AI features, the phone can summarise the messages to get up to date with all the messages at once. The user has to just say 'catch me up'.
It also supports Playlist Studio, which can help curate a playlist based on what's there on the user's phone's screen.

With Image Studio, it offers generative AI creation and editing capabilities to help users create images, avatars, stickers and wallpapers.
Motorola device also offers Perplexity AI to power the AI assistant. The Edge 60 Pro owners get three months of Perplexity Pro subscription free.
That's not all, Motorola offers three months of Gemini Advanced with a 2TB cloud storage option as well.
With Smart Connect, users can pair with compatible smart TVs, computers and external displays with less hassle.
And, with Moto Secure, it offers protection against malware, password-locked folders for sensitive files, wireless network protection and more.

Motorola will offer three years of Android OS updates (up to 2028) and software security coverage against emerging cyber threats up to 2029.
Though the phone looks slim, it houses a massive 6,000mAh battery. It can easily last a one and half days under normal usage with Wi-Fi at home and the office.
With a 90W wired charging ability, it can go from zero to 100 per cent in under one hour. It also supports 15W wireless charging as well.

Final thoughts
Motorola's Edge 60 Pro is not just a gorgeous phone but also a reliable performer. Whatever the tasks are, be it switching between multiple apps or playing games, it works smoothly.
Also, it takes pretty amazing photos in the sunlight. And, delivers good on a long battery under normal usage.
