Samsung began beta testing Android 15-based OneUI 7.0 earlier this month for the Galaxy S series worldwide, including in India.
As OneUI 7.0 software is accessible to select registered developers to test the new features, Samsung is highlighting key features of the latest software to the general public.
The company has revealed OneUI 7.0 update will bring a major user privacy security feature called 'Personal Data Engine (PDE)'. It will ensure all the personal data are stored in a safe space within the phone, which will be very hard to access not just to applications, but also to thwart malware entering the phone.
PDE uses encryption keys managed by Samsung's defence-grade security system, Knox Vault.
It will protect users' biometric data and credentials such as user IDs and passwords for financial applications such as banks, life insurance, credit/debit card details, and more.
The new feature is an added layer of protection, which comes with post-quantum cryptography security.
For the uninitiated, post-quantum cryptography is a state-of-the-art algorithm designed to prevent future highly sophisticated quantum attacks. In simple terms, the Galaxy phone with OneUI 7.0 update will be almost impossible to hack.
Apple too uses the same technology to protect the personal details of the iPhone users.
Also, One UI 7.0 is bringing a new Now Bar feature. It offers personalised recommendations every day based on the activities marked in your calendar.
Consider a scenario, you’re packing for a trip from Bengaluru to Seoul, South Korea. While you get ready, your phone offers a prompt to create a folder of your essential apps (such as translator, bank apps, Galaxy Wallet with flight tickets, e-sim and more) for quicker access.
To ensure, you don’t miss your flight, the phone will know the real-time traffic and weather report and it lets you know when it’s time to leave for the airport. It will also even provide a curated travel playlist to set the mood for your long flight.
The Galaxy S24 series users can apply to join the beta program via the Samsung Members app (here).
Samsung is expected to rollout the new Android 15-based OneUI 7.0 to all users starting with Galaxy S24, S24 Plus, and S24 Ultra series phones in January 2025.
