It's been a little over a week since Google's Pixel 10 series with the latest Android 16 OS hit stores worldwide. Now, the search engine giant has rolled out the September 2025 Pixel Drop update, which brings new features to older Pixel phones.
The new update brings Material 3 Expressive user interface. It will be more fluid in terms of smooth transition, a natural expressive animation, while launching an app or while switching between apps.
Once updated to the latest version, users can add Live effects like shapes and weather animations to their lock screen wallpaper, enjoy a sleek redesign of Quick Settings, and customise your Phone by Google experience to make calling contacts uniquely your own.
It also brings updated colour themes, a refined home screen grid and more customisable options.
Other notable UI changes include the redesigned Quick Share. It can help users instantly toggle between sending and receiving, preview the photos he/she is sharing, and open received files right away.

Further, the new progress indicator gives live updates, showing what percentage of the file has been transferred.
The September update brings new generative Artificial Intelligence (gen AI)-powered writing tools to Gboard. It will assist users in drafting error-free messages with correct grammar. With just a tap gesture, it offers the option to revise the user's tone to be more formal, expressive or concise.
The update also brings more emojis to the Gboard. Users will also be able to mix two emojis to form custom emojis and do more.

The Android update also comes with bug fixes. It resolves a Call Audio quality issue in certain conditions. It addresses the issue causing occasional system instability and performance slowdowns in certain conditions.

Further, it fixes battery Health display problems, fingerprint recognition and response issues in certain conditions.

Step 1: Open your device's Settings app.
Step 2: Tap System and then Software Update.
Step 3: You'll find your updated status. Follow any steps on the screen.
