In 2024, Google launched the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Overview feature on Google Search. Since then, it has improved a lot and has managed to offer simple responses to complex questions.
Now, for medical and health-related queries, Google will offer trustworthy information available online and from reliable medical health resources.
Further, Google will offer 'What People Suggest.' This new feature using AI, will group the most relevant answers and online discussions related to the particular query available in the public domain and turn in into simple easy-to-understand themes. This will help users easily grasp what people are saying.
For instance, a person dealing with arthritis might want to know how others with this same condition exercise.
However, the search results will mention that the aforementioned suggestions are for information purposes only and users must check with professional doctors before attempting tog perform those exercises or yoga.

Besides the results, Google AI Overview also feature knowledge panels on common health topics such as flu or the common cold and helps people connect with reliable sources across the web. Currently, this is available in the US on mobile phones.
Google also added that it will expand the availability of AI Overview in more international languages including Spanish, Portuguese and Japanese, starting on mobile.
In a related development, Google will offer a new Medical Record API (Android Programming Interface ) to app developers to enable them to store the Medical Record of the user in the Health Connect feature of Android phones.
Going forward, users can read and add medical record information such as allergies, medications, immunisations and lab results in standard FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources) format. With these additions, Health Connect supports over 50 data types across activity, sleep, nutrition, vitals and now medical records — making it easier to connect all the everyday health data with data from the doctor’s office.
