In July 2024, Meta announced the launch of the generative Artificial Intelligence (gen AI) feature 'Imagine Me' for WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook Messenger apps.

However, it was limited to select countries, including the US and Europe. Now, it has finally made its way to the Indian market.

Meta AI's latest 'Imagine me' feature is powered by the Emu image synthesis model.

With the new 'AI-powered photography' tool, users can turn their selfie into comic-style art or add animation effects, brush painting-like effects and do more.

Also, users can even create personalised stickers to express their emotions in a fun way on the messenger apps. The Meta AI-generated images can also be used as a Display Picture, as well.

To trigger the 'Imagine Me' feature, users have to just type '@Meta AI' in personal and group chats. Then, he/she can send a prompt starting with “Imagine me as...”.

It should be noted that for first-time users, the app will ask them to take some selfie photos to help Meta AI generate more personalised and accurate images.

Meta AI uses the uploaded images to understand the user’s facial features and generate personalised results within moments. These photos can be updated or deleted at any time in Meta AI settings. Users can also manage their preferences, retake photos, or turn off the feature as needed.

Once uploaded, tap the 'Generate' button, and this creates an AI-powered image based on the user’s appearance and the prompt provided.

And, users can further refine by typing 'Imagine me' followed by a scenario, idea, or style-such as 'on the moon,' 'in a Renaissance painting,' or 'wearing futuristic apparel.'

The new 'Imagine Me' feature is being rolled out as an update in phases to WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook Messenger. So, it will take a few days to reach all handsets-- Android mobiles and iPhones-- in India.
