After launching Android 16 One UI 8 beta testing for flagship phones-- Galaxy S25, S25 Plus, S25, Samsung will be expanding it to older devices later this month.
From August 11 onwards, the beta program will be available for Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold6 and Galaxy Z Flip6 in India, Korea, the UK and the US.
The beta program is planned for roll-out in September to even more devices, including Galaxy S23 series, Z Fold5 and Z Flip5, Tab S10 series, Galaxy A36 5G and Galaxy A35 5G.
The latest OneUI 8 update brings a new, refreshing user interface. The Galaxy AI features, such as Now Bar and Now Brief, will be more active and learn the user's daily routine to offer more personalised insights and suggestions to help the user stay on top of tasks and support the daily routine, through curated AI information.
An interesting aspect of the One UI 8 is that it offers complete control to users on how the data requests are processed for AI to respond.
For the less complex queries, Google's Gemini Nano AI model works on-device without the need for connectivity to a cloud server.
However, for complex queries, Google Gemini Pro and Gemini Advanced AI models need cloud connectivity to perform tasks.
Here, One UI 8 will offer options in the settings where the user can choose to process data only on the device or provide permission for cloud-based AI processing.
Interested Samsung Galaxy device owners can sign up to join the beta program via the Samsung Members app.
