Google's Gemini AI app can now create illustrated storybooks with audio narration

For more personalised stories, users can share photos and videos from their phone's gallery to create a short story.

It's been barely two years since Google launched generative Artificial Intelligence (gen AI) large language model Gemini, which later became the default personal assistant on Android phones. Beyond mundane tasks such as setting alarm, a reminder, or assisting in translating languages or writing grammatically correct emails, the latest version of Gemini Live is capable of doing complex tasks such as helping solve math problems, offering tips on decluttering a room, and more.

Now, Google has taken another big leap in the field of gen AI. It has announced that the Gemini AI app can also help users create personalised illustrated digital storybooks.

Users just have to describe a story, and it will generate a personalised storybook with creative art format, along with a script, and offer audio narration as well. For now, it can do up to 10-page digital books. This can greatly help parents narrate stories they heard from their grandparents to their children. There are several hyperlocal moral stories which never make it to commercial children's books.

Also, for more personalised stories, users can share photos and videos from the phone's gallery to create a short story.

For instance, users can upload photos from a family trip and create a personalised story. The Gemini AI app can churn out a fun 10-page adventure digital storybook.

Even if you are not tech-savvy, Google Gemini's Storybook offers several template stories. Users can learn and improve their skills on how to draft text prompts on the Storybook feature.

Not just bedtime stories, parents can even ask Gemini to create a similar short story on a science topic, such as solar systems, photosynthesis in plants, and more.

Gemini's Storybook is an experimental feature. Initially, there will be issues in creating stories, but over time, it will improve. It is available on the Gemini AI app for Android, iOS and a web version for computers (here).
