WhatsApp is one of the most used messenger app in the world. It has more than 3.2 billion active users across 180 plus countries globally. It is free, there is user privacy-centric data encryption and comes with several value-added features including disappearing messages, group chats, photo editing, Meta AI chatbot, lively status updates, even governments in India are offering services to the citizens more.
To further enhance user experience, Meta-owned company is testing a new featuret that allows users to translate messages and even notifications from WhatsApp channels, reported WaBetaInfo, a WhatsApp community forum.
With the new translation feature, it can translate several languages instantly. For the sake of user-privacy security, in-app translator works within the device. This means, the message never have to be transferred out of the phone and connect with cloud server to get translated.
As of now, there is no official word on how many languages will the WhatsApp support at the start.

The company will seek feedback and debugging report from testers and then, WhatsApp will fix the errors and roll out the feature to all via firmware update to all supported devices in the coming months.
In a related development, WhatsApp is testing a feature, which offers option to choose the type of quality for downloaded photos and videos.
WhatsApp offers two auto-download options-- SD (Standard) and HD (High Definition). Those who have large enough space in their phone can choose HD. And, those who have very storage space, can pick the SD option.
