With less than a week to go before Google’s August 20 Pixel event, the company has dropped a 30-second teaser offering a first look at its ultra-premium Pixel 10 Pro Fold. The reveal comes amid reports of a possible delay in availability, with supply chain issues potentially pushing its release to October—alongside the Pixel Buds 2a and Pixel Watch 4—several weeks after the Pixel 10, 10 Pro and 10 Pro XL reach stores worldwide

The teaser highlights a design language consistent with its predecessor but hints at significant upgrades in build quality and internal hardware, positioning the Pixel 10 Pro Fold as Google’s most refined foldable yet.

The Pixel 10 Pro Fold is expected to use more durable build materials and will debut an IP68 rating—a first for the foldable Pixel series.

It will be capable of withstanding an accidental drop into water—such as a swimming pool—at depths of up to 1.5 metres (around five feet) for roughly 30 minutes.

All four Pixel 10 variants are expected to feature Google’s proprietary Tensor G5 chipset, promising major performance gains. The new processor is designed to deliver seamless, lag-free performance while powering generative AI tools like Gemini Live and advanced computational photography features such as Magic Editor without stutters or slowdowns.

In a second teaser, Google confirmed that the Pixel 10 series will debut an enhanced version of its exclusive “Add me” feature. “What if your phone could do things other phones couldn’t? What if the camera could get super, super close while being really, really far? What if you could be in the group photo even if you snapped it?” the teaser asks, framing the update as a leap in user experience.

The Pixel’s digital zoom has long been regarded as best-in-class, offering minimal quality loss compared to rivals. The “Add me” feature—first seen in the Pixel 9 series—lets the photographer appear in a group shot without needing a tripod or help from strangers.

After taking the first shot, the photographer hands the device to someone else, follows on-screen AR guidance to position themselves, and a combination of generative AI and AR merges the shots into one complete image.

The Pixel 10 series promises an improved version of this feature, potentially making it even more intuitive and precise. As launch day approaches, more details are expected to surface.

Google will hold its India launch event for the Pixel 10 lineup on August 21, a day after the global unveiling.
