A bomb blast ripped through a state-run hospital in the restive Khyber tribal region of northwest Pakistan today, injuring a lady health worker, officials said.
The explosive device went off in the office of the National Programme for Health at the Civil Hospital in Jamrud, one of the main towns in Khyber Agency.
The office of the lady health workers is located nearby.
Seman Shinwari, the surgeon for the region, told reporters a lady health worker sustained minor injuries.
She was taken to a hospital in Peshawar, the capital of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province, for treatment.
Shinwari said the condition of the injured worker was stable. The building was damaged by the blast.
No group claimed responsibility for the attack.
The banned Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan has bombed dozens of state-run schools and healthcare centres in the tribal belt over the past few years.
