Border coordination centres not closed: Pakistan

Associated Press of Pakistan reported that the impression that border coordination centres were closed and Pakistan Army officers at those centres were recalled was incorrect.

A statement from Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said few officers were called only for consultations and had now gone back to the border coordination centres.

The Nov 26 airstrikes on two Pakistani Army checkposts in Mohmand Agency killed two dozen soldiers, sparking outrage in Pakistan. Islamabad promptly barred the passage of NATO supplies through the country and decided to boycott the Bonn conference that would discuss the future course of action in Afghanistan.

US officials have reportedly said their Pakistani counterparts at a border coordination centre gave the NATO forces the nod for the airstrikes.
