A man from Canada who won against cancer won lottery, not once but thrice in a span of just nine months.
Fighting the odds, David Serkin won lottery money worth Rs 21.42 crore ($2.5 million), as per Western Canada Lottery Corporation (WCLC).
In an interview with NOW Toronto, Serkin said he likes buying tickets, however, he just "plays the games for enjoyment and is not chasing luck".
"I know the odds are astronomical, I don’t think it’ll happen again, but I still like buying tickets," he said, as reported by the publication.
Serkin, on May 3 won LOTTO 6/49 Gold Ball draw. Previously, he had won $500,000 with a LOTTO MAX ticket, and two $1 million wins.
Serkin has been playing since 1982, the year when LOTTO 6/49 was launched.
His motive is to "just play for enjoyment", and insists on being happy if he wins, and try again if the luck was not on his side.
“You check your ticket, and if you win, you’re happy. If you don’t, you can always try again," he told the publication.
Serkin does not believe in taking the fortune for granted.
“I’m a cancer survivor and I’m retired, so I am just grateful for all of it," the publication reported.
