Responding to a calling attention notice in the National Assembly or lower house of parliament, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Malik Amad Khan said he had checked with the Interior Ministry and there were no reports of 300 Sikh pilgrims being denied visas.
A protocol signed by Pakistan and India in 1974 contained the number of people from both countries who could make visits for religious purposes.
The Foreign Ministry had nothing to do with the issuance of visas as it worked as a bridge between the Interior Ministry and Pakistan's High Commission in Delhi.
Lawmaker Shakeela Khan had said that a total of 5,000 Sikhs visited Pakistan for religious purposes while visa applications of 300 pilgrims were rejected.She said the Interior Ministry rejected the visa applications of Indian Sikhs who were born in Pakistan.
