Barely 45 minutes before Royal Challengers Bangalore took on Mumbai Indians in an Indian Premier League match, explosions were heard in one of the gates of the Chinnaswamy Stadium yesterday.

Even though the match went ahead with a one hour delay, the incident has created some panic for the NZOC, which would now seek advice from the government's Major Events Security Committee.

"The NZOC will take action accordingly," NZOC said in a statement.
"Athlete safety remains the organisation's highest priority," it said.
The Commonwealth Games are scheduled from October 3 to 14 in the Indian capital and foreign teams have raised concerns about security in the past as well.
