<p>Infrastructure major Larsen & Toubro on Tuesday assured the Punjab government of starting the first unit of 700 MW Rajpura thermal power plant by December this year.<br /><br /></p>.<p>Larsen & Toubro executive vice president S N Roy called on chief minister Parkash Singh Badal and apprised him of latest progress about the project, an official release said.<br /><br />He urged the chief minister to provide help in acquiring nearly 25 acre of land for the construction of a new road from NH-1 to the site via Sarai Banjara-Chandumajra-Chak Kalan-Chak Khurd-Sural Kalan, as the existing approach road from NH-64 could not bear the load due to heavy movement of 400 bulkers of fly ash every day.<br /><br />However, Badal asked him to acquire land on his own but assuring him of all logistic support and cooperation for the construction of the road.<br /><br />He also agreed to the proposal for the exemption of the peak load restrictions and weekly day offs on industrial power connection granted to L&T’s power plant at Rajpura.<br /><br />The CM impressed upon Roy to execute few prestigious projects in Punjab, including the construction of three jails at a cost of Rs 450 crore, sewerage projects worth Rs 200 crore, Rs 1,452 crore project of the Sirhind canal lining besides four-laning of Zirakpur-Bathinda road at the cost of Rs 2,100 crore.<br /><br />Badal also offered Roy to undertake construction of the Rs 250 crore Jang-e-Azadi Memorial at Kartarpur near Jalandhar.<br /><br />DHBVN earns all-time high<br /><br />Power utility Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam has earned all-time high monthly revenue of Rs 711 crore during June this year, reports PTI.<br /><br />During the month of June 2012, the revenue was to the tune of Rs 509 crore. While stating this on Tuesday, V K Chaudhary, Director, DHBVN said the increase in revenue has been mainly because of considerable increase in power supply. <br /><br />The supply was given to consumers of all categories for more time than the fixed schedule, he said.<br /><br />During May this year, the Nigam had supplied 188 crore units of electricity, whereas during May 2012, the Nigam supplied 166 crore units of power.<br /><br />He said the revenue received during June last year has been highest in operation circle Gurgaon, which is Rs 325.50 crore followed by Faridabad at Rs 192.52 crore. <br /><br />Hisar got Rs 65.12 crore, Rewari Rs 46.85 crore, Bhiwani received Rs 33.34 crore, Sirsa Rs 30.50 crore and operation circle Narnaul got Rs 16.99 crore.</p>
