An engineer was killed on the spot while three persons sustained injuries as a crane toppled at the construction site of a hydel power plant, on Shiradi Ghat, near Sakleshpur on Sunday.
The deceased has been identified as Mahesh (28). According to sources, the crane was moving towards a hillock, when the driver lost balance. The crane overturned resulting in the mishap.
Mahesh, a resident of Kattemaralavadi village in Hunsur taluk of Mysuru district, who was in-charge of the work, died on the spot.
The injured were initially treated at Crawford Hospital in Sakleshpur and later shifted to district hospital in Hassan. Sakleshpur rural police have registered a case.
