<p class="bodytext">Kundapur police arrested alleged Maoist Neelaguli Padmanabha on Thursday, for not appearing before court. Two non-bailable offence cases have been filed against him.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Speaking to <span class="italic">DH</span>, Superintendent of Police Laxman Nimbargi said that the Maoist did not appear before the court in two separate cases.</p>.<p class="CrossHead">Two cases filed</p>.<p class="bodytext">Stating that Padmanabha was involved in two cases at Amasebailu, the SP said that a non-bailable warrant was issued against him in connection with the lapse. He was produced before the district court.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The two cases are in connection with damaging a Forest Department bridge along with other Maoists on September 30, 2004 at Madamakki. The another case was on destroying two bridges belonging to the department on June 24, 2005.</p>.<p class="bodytext">He did not appear before the court in connection with the charges and hence, two non-bailiable warrants was issued against him.</p>.<p class="CrossHead">Appeal by wife</p>.<p class="bodytext">Meanwhile, Padmanabha’s wife Renuka appealed to Chikkamagaluru SP K Annamalai to release him as her husband has quit Naxal activities and is in the process of returning to mainstream of the society.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The SP, in turn, suggested that she may apply for bail in the court.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Speaking to <span class="italic">DH</span>, Renuka said that Padmanabha had been to Udupi to attend a court case and the police arrested him when he was returning from the court.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Even afer he surrendered, Padmanabha was in prison for about nine-an-a-half months and was released on bail on August 31, 2017. “Police arrested him all of a sudden when he was attending a court case,” she charged.</p>
