JOIN USAlmost 30 years after the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) floated the Rohini Residential Scheme, it allotted plots to over 24,000 applicants under different categories through a draw on Tuesday.
“A total of 4,402 plots under economically weaker section (EWS), 12,350 under low income group category (LIG) and 7,777 plots under middle income group category were allotted in the draw,” a DDA spokesperson said.
The Rohini Residential Scheme was floated by DDA in 1981 and a total of 82,384 applicants had registered under various categories of plots. It is one of the biggest draws in the DDA’s history and plots of varying dimensions – 60 square metres, 32 square metres and 26 square metres have been allotted under the different categories.
The DDA officials said the entire backlog comprising middle income group and all reserved category registrants had been fully covered. Only few LIG and EWS registrants have not been covered, but plots will be allotted to them within next three months.
However, the allottees will have to wait for some time before they get the possession of the plots.
“DDA will process the allotments for possession which may take time because of the fact that all these registrants are very old and their genuineness and eligibility needs to be verified,” a DDA official said.
“The court has directed the Delhi Jal Board and the local electricity authorities to provide services to these plots on a priority basis. It is expected that by the time the cases for possession are processed, all the services will be made available,” the official added.
