<p>St Aloysius College (Autonomous) Mangaluru, for the first time took part in India Today – MDRA 2018 survey this year and the findings announced in the June 4, 2018 edition of India Today Magazine, have brought joy to all stakeholders of the college.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The college had filed its participation in Arts, Science, Commerce, Management, Computer Applications categories among the undergraduate programmes and Social Work category in the postgraduate section.</p>.<p class="bodytext">India Today-MDRA team does survey of the best institutes in these categories along with Engineering, Medical, Dental, Hotel Management, Media, Fashion Design, Law and Architecture.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The survey results are based on an objective questionnaire evaluation and also perceptual evaluation, having a weightage of 50:50 for general programmes and 60:40 for professional programmes.</p>.<p class="bodytext">In the country, the college stands in the 50th place for Arts education out of the top 100 ranked colleges. In Science category, the college bagged the 44th place out of the top 100 colleges ranked. In the Commerce section, the college is in the 64th place out of the top 100 listed.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Among the professional programmes in computer application (BCA) category, the college is in the 20th place out of the top 50 colleges listed in the country. For Management (BBA) course, the college has secured 29th rank, out of 50 ranks announced.</p>.<p class="bodytext">In The Social Work programme (MSW), the college stands in the 18th place out of the top 25 institutes. </p>.<p class="bodytext">The objective questionnaire had components like student selection process, student diversity, fees and funding, teacher quality, living experience, personality development and leadership, academic progression, internship and placements, new age courses etc.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The management of the college - Mangalore Jesuit Educational Society (MJES) - has appreciated the efforts of the college in maintaining the first place in the Mangaluru, Udupi and Kodagu districts and thanked all the stakeholders responsible for this achievement.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The college is in the 94th place in the NIRF ranking 2018 conducted by Ministry of Human Resource and Development (MHRD), Government of India.</p>.<p class="bodytext">According to the 2017 statistics from UGC, there are 41,435 affiliated colleges in the country out of which only 621 are autonomous colleges and 314 colleges are colleges<br />with or potential for excellence.</p>.<p class="bodytext">St Aloysius College is an Autonomous Institute with Potential for Excellence status given by UGC, star status awarded by DBT, Government of India and it aspires to become a deemed to be university in the near future.</p>
