<p>The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has asked United Breweries to remit all the remunerations payable to beleaguered liquor baron Vijay Mallya as its director towards the provident fund authorities.<br /><br />The action comes in the wake of the now defunct Kingfisher Airlines (KFA) defaulting the payment of provident fund dues to its employees to the tune of Rs 8.72 crore.<br /><br />“EPFO had taken the cognizance of this default and initiated the recovery proceedings against the KFA. However, as KFA has already been closed and its assets are being liquidated, EPFO has initiated recovery proceedings against the directors and other executives of the KFA who are responsible for the default of PF due,” the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation said in a statement.<br /><br />The dues to be recovered from the company also include the employees’ contribution to their provident fund.</p>
