Construction workers better than BBMP engineers: Mayor

Newly elected mayor Gangambike Mallikarjun took officials to task over the poor quality pothole filling work in the city.

Speaking to media after assuming the office on Monday, the mayor said: “Construction workers are better than BBMP engineers. The quality of the pothole filling work by our engineers is very poor. The officials should immediately take measures to fill the potholes soon.”

“I will conduct inspection soon. If the quality of the work is poor the officials should fill the potholes again with quality work. I give importance to cleanliness. The garbage issue should be solved, and the black spots should be brought down," she added.

Later in the evening, Gangambike conducted a review meeting along with BBMP commissioner N Manjunatha Prasad and other senior officials.

The mayor also took details of the ongoing development projects and, directed officials to complete them within the deadline.

She said that the tree census would begin from November 1to find the number of trees and the diseased ones to protect them.
