Truck mows down couple near toll plaza

A couple was killed when a truck on Thursday night ran over the bike they were riding near Veerasandra Toll Plaza on Hosur Main Road.

Tempo driver Shambrasan (29) and his wife Pushpa (24), a daily wager, were riding on the two-wheeler to their native Dharmapuri in Tamil Nadu when they crossed the toll plaza.

At 8.30 pm Shambrasan tried overtaking the truck before him, but the truck driver did not notice him and veered right. The couple, residents of RT Nagar in the city, went under the truck’s wheels and was crushed.

While Shambrasan died on the spot, Pushpa succumbed to the injuries minutes after being taken to St John’s Hospital.

While police arrested the driver, Electronics City traffic police seized the truck.
