Congress launches new women squad, Priyadarshini

The new squad of women Congress, ‘Priyadarshini’, was inaugurated with the objective of inducting young women leaders as a part of the grand design to strengthen the party from the grass roots level.

The Priyadrashini Squad state president Bhavya Narasimhamurthy, addressing the gathering after inaugurating the Squad unit at district Congress office, said that there is a need for Congress women leaders to strengthen the party. She added that health, education and employment security were core issues handled by the Squad.

“In the coming weeks, the squad would try to create awareness among women on these issues. There is a need for gender-based equality, which will ensure empowerment of the women. Women empowerment would facilitate and promote the growth of any country,” she stressed.

The Squad will induct a minimum of 600 to 700 members in each district and the responsibility has been assigned to the individual who is appointed at taluk-level.
