McDonald's to invest Rs 100-cr to open 25 Drive Thru outlets

Besides, as per its overall expansion, the company will open about 40 stores by end this year and about 50-60 stores in 2011. It has 8 Drive Thru outlets currently.

"Drive Thru formats is the most profitable format across the world and we will focus more here. We plan to open 20-25 of these stores in the next 3-years. As per our strategy the company plans to open 40 new outlets across India at an investment of Rs 3-crore per outlet--this is our strategy," McDonalds' Managing Director, (North and East India), Vikram Bakshi, said on the sidelines of the India Retail Forum here today.

McDonalds currently has about 188 outlets across all its formats such as High Street restaurants, food courts and Drive Thrus, opened near highways.

On the chain's India turnover this calender year, he said there would be a 30 per cent increase and the company intended to double its turnover every three-years. Bakshi, however, did not divulge any figures.
