If an ambitious programme for introduction of one-lakh charkhas each year is taken, it can revolutionise the traditional spinning industry and can gradually take the place of centralised spinning industry," she said.

The cost of one solar charkha is estimated to be around Rs 15,000. It is estimated that one kilogram of yarn could be produced from one charkha everyday. "This will also ensure better quality output," she added.
