Cabinet reshuffle on the cards

The prime minister, if he carries out the reshuffle/expansion of his ministry, may fill up the vacant posts, including the one created after the resignation of Shashi Tharoor as the minister of state for external affairs.

Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar, after becoming the chief of the International Cricket Council, had also reportedly requested the prime minister to relieve him of a part of his burden.

Congress sources said the prime minister might carry out the changes this week itself as he would not find time for it in the near future. Singh will be away for a week and will be back in time for the AICC session scheduled here on November 2.

Diwali falls on November 5 followed by US President Barack Obama’s visit on November  7 and 8 and the Parliament session from November 9, leaving little time for the prime minister to carry out the exercise.
