Last Updated 03 November 2010, 06:19 IST

"I will love to make a Marathi movie but I am hard pressed for time. Currently, I am busy with my other movie commitments," the 46-year-old director said. But the director says he is proud to see the way Marathi movies are comping up these days.

'Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey', starring Abhishek Bachchan and Deepika Padukone is lined up for release. While Ashutosh has helmed Hindi movies like 'Lagaan', 'Swades' and 'Jodhaa Akbar', he has only acted in Marathi cult movies including 'Sarkarnama', 'Vazir' and 'Ek Ratra Mantarleli'.

Ashutosh was speaking on the occasion of music launch of Marathi movie 'Sumbaran' directed by Gajindre Ahire. The movie would be premiered at the upcoming International Film Festival of India to be held in Goa.

'Sumbaran', a musical, would be Ahire's fourth film to be screened at Goa. Earlier, his 'Not Only Mrs Raut', 'Bayo' and 'Shevri' were shown at the prestigious film festival. Ashutosh also recalled his long association with the movie's music director Rahul Ranade.

"My association with Rahul goes back to 1984 when we both had worked in 'Holi'. It was because of him and the way the movie has shaped up, that I was compelled to come for this music launch," Ashutosh said.

'Sumbaran' is a romantic love story of a village left behind starring popular Marathi actors including Jitendra Joshi, Makrand Anaspure.
