Dist admn gears up to conduct ZP, TP polls

Explaining the arrangements at a news conference here, Deputy Commissioner and Returning Officer K Amarnarayan said the district has a total electorate of 6,21,123 and 720 polling stations would be set up. Out of which 77 are hyper-sensitive and 151 as sensitive polling booths.Training has been imparted to personnel in the elections and preparations have been undertaken to ensure that elections are held in a free and fair manner.

Video surveillance
Amarnarayana pointed out that 228 polling booths have been kept under video surveillance. Also, 798 presiding officers and 798 polling officers including 3,990 personnel have been deployed for the elections.

Regional Commissioner M V Jayanthi will be the chief electoral observer, while Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) Commissioner P C Jayanna is the election observer.  They have already visited the district twice and conducted inspections, he added.

In each taluk, two people Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) Master Trainers and technicians have been appointed. He said that if any of the EVMs are found to be faulty, they will be immediately repaired or replaced. According to the election code, two vigi
ance squad have been created for Kollegal, while one each for other taluks. For each taluk, two accounts inspectors have been appointed to keep track of the total expenses of candidates. One district nodal officer and four taluk nodal officers have been named in-charge of the EVMs. Four election officers and six assistant election officers have been named for ZP polls, while eight election officers and 21 assistant election officers have been appointed for TP polls.

Mustering, de-mustering and counting would be taken up at Government Polytechnic College in Chamarajanagar Taluk. In case of Kollegal and Yalandur towns, mustering, it would be held in MGSV PU College and Government PU College respectively. In Gundlupet, it would be held at Doddahundi Bojappa Government PU College, while de-mustering and counting will be held at JSS Art and Science College.

Additional vehicles including 101 buses, 74 jeeps and 11 vans have been taken from Ramanagar district for the poll duty.
