<p>Same thing has happened in Chamarajanagar district where a majority of the newly-elected zilla panchayat members have not completed SSLC. But this will not come in the way of serving the people of their constituencies.<br /><br />In district, the electorate have not taken into consideration the educational qualification while exercising their franchise as importance to the charisma of the candidates, their parties and sometimes the sympathy factor.<br /><br />The winners of 21 Zilla Panchayat constituency of the district have not crossed the 7th standard mark. While six have passed SSLC, four are degree holders and two have completed post graduation. <br /><br />Two members are degree drop outs and four are PU incomplete. Eight members are above 50 years of age and three candidates are below 30 years and all are women. <br />G Nagashree, 28 years, of Madapura constituency has done PG in law through the open university. L Chandrakalabai of Ramapura constituency has the distinction of being the highly educated among the new members. <br /><br />She has got post graduation in Economics and also a Ph D holder in Sociology.<br /><br />The youngest candidate has been 26- year-old R Kaveri of Haradanahalli constituency but her education is restricted to SSLC. Devammanni of Kabbahalli, who is 55 years has only passed sixth standard and the least educated has been Shivamma, 38 years, who has hardly studied fifth standard.<br /><br />Apart from this, there are many who have only primary education to their credits.<br />When introspected the issue, the party high command has not given much importance to the educational qualifications of the candidates while giving tickets.While some have the experience of serving in taluk panchayats, others are the first time members of ZP.<br /><br /></p>
