Addressing a meeting to review the progress of the central sponsored schemes here on Saturday, he said the officials should be ashamed for not having completed at least five percent of works in current fiscal. The Centre had released `  82. 93 crore in the year 2009-10 to take up 8,687 works but only 197 works are under progress. The ZP engineering department had to implement 2,863 works identified under the scheme for which `  38.23 crore is earmarked.

The officers have never made any efforts to achieve the given target. It was high time they shed their indifference, lethargy and implement works before March 31. The Department of Water Resources has to implement 2,437 works but action plan has been prepared for only 750 works, he added.

Besides, the social forestry department had to implement 854 works and not a single work is complete till date. The deputy conservator of forest who is also the nodal officer for this works, should resign for having failed to  implement the programme.

MLA R Narendra complained regarding non-clearance of the bills in the panchayats of M M Hills, Koudalli and other places in Hanur.

MLA H S Mahadevaprasad wanted officials to come to meeting fully prepared as many of them were not at all aware of the progress made by their respective departments.

The ZP would withhold the bills of contractors who have executed the works without the approval of the departments concerned.

Dhruvanarayan directed the deputy commissioner to review meeting of MNREGS works and other central schemes. The MLAs were asked to oversee the implementation of those works.
