Rahul should speak out against lathicharge: Kalyan

"He (Gandhi) should speak. Since he is representing the constituency as an MP, he should raise his voice against the incident. I am raising the issue of the whole state. Uttar Pradesh is turning into a hell," Singh told reporters outside Parliament.

On Monday night, angry villagers of Amethi clashed with police to vent their anger over frequent power cuts. An unspecified number of policemen were injured after which they resorted to lathicharge to disperse the crowd.

On UP Chief Minister Mayawati installing statues of herself and others in the state, Singh said, "Statues worth more than Rs 2,000 crore have already been installed but not a single electricity grid came up.

"People are suffering but the CM is not concerned. There is no solution to any of the problems in the state," he said.
