The hotel will not only be located near the airport like many others at present but will be part of the proposed new domestic terminal building.

Mumbai International Airport Pvt Ltd (MIAL), a joint venture between GVK-led consortium and Airports Authority of India (AAI), which is constructing the new terminal building at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport, Santacruz, has invited proposals for building the 4/5 star hotel.

In a notice inviting proposals, MIAL said the new Terminal 1C building includes space for a 4/5 star hotel with an initial capacity of 92 rooms, with provision for further expansions.

The notice said while a proposed common user terminal for both domestic and international flights will be located at Sahar by end of 2012, a new terminal called IC is being built to accommodate the rapid growth in domestic flight operations in Santacruz.

Terminal 1C will provide centralised domestic to international transfer lounge and additional passenger facilities. The Terminal 1C Hotel is being built within this new building and is expected to cater mainly to passengers.

The company winning the bid to develop and operate the hotel will be required to pay MIAL concession fee, to be determined as a certain percentage of revenue arising from running the hotel or a minimum annual guarantee amount, the notice said.
