Godman's medical condition before March 28 questioned

With the doctors who treated Baba – Dr Iyer and Dr Kishan Das – being elusive, confirmation on what kind of treatment the godman was given had not come out in the public realm.

However, after Hospital Director A N Safaya, earlier claimed he had not seen the previous medical reports, led  to confusion over what condition the Baba was in before he was brought to the hospital.

Doctors consulting or advicing on a patient know his medical history and so the treatment they administer assume importance.

“I only know about what has happened with ‘Swami’ after he was admitted here (March 28). I do not know anything about what was happening before that,” Safaya had said. And on who were the doctors that treated him earlier, he had named Das and Iyer.

Speaking to Deccan Herald over phone from Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh Medical Education Director T Ravi Raju, who headed the panel of doctors deputed by the state government to consult the team of specialists at the hospital, confirmed even he and his panel had not seen those reports.

The reports assume importance for two reasons. One, they would have helped the doctors treating and consulting Baba, and two, they would stand proof to or against allegations that Baba’s caregiver Sathyajit was responsible for the deterioration in his health and that he had administered additional dosage of sedatives. The allegations have been doing rounds for over two weeks.

Although Safaya neither confirmed nor denied whether any such thing happened before Baba was admitted, he had said: “Sathyajit is the only person getting regular access to the ICU besides the doctors…”

Trust sources said Sathyajit, Dr Iyer and Dr Das have been advised to stay away from the public. But the police  did not confirm whether the trio has  been provided security cover.
