Yeddyurappa 'most corrupt Chief Minister', says Kumaraswamy

"Shimoga district has produced four Chief Ministers including the one serving now. But except Yeddyurappa, none of them earned the title of being the most corrupt Chief Minister and a liar. None in the country can match him in amassing public money," Kumaraswamy said.

He was speaking to reporters on the sidelines of an anti-corruption convention led by freedom fighters, intellectuals and litterateurs here, a campaign spearheaded by the JDS.
Coming down heavily on the state government "for not undertaking" any developmental works, Kumaraswamy said "all developmental activities which have been announced are still on paper. People have now had the bitter experience of the real face of BJP and will teach it a lesson shortly."

Kumaraswamy called upon the public to rise against corruption and said a convention like this would help to step up the fight against it.

Earlier inaugurating the convention, which was a culmination of a four-day jatha from different parts in the state, veteran freedom fighter H S Doreswamy alleged that various "irregular practises" adopted by the ruling parties had brought down the working of democratic system and values.

He exhorted political leaders to support the movement cutting across party lines.
Several others who spoke lambasted the Yeddyurappa-led BJP government for its "corrupt practises" and said such a convention would pave way for a new revolution in the state.

JDS leaders, including party chief H D Deve Gowda and former Chief Minister S Bangarappa, were present.

Meanwhile, Yeddyurappa, responding to a query on the convention in Sagar taluk, said the "party (JDS) has no base or support of the public".
