Gurupadaswamy laid to rest

Former union minister M S Gurupadaswamy (89), who passed away on Tuesday, was laid to rest at Mallanmoole Mutt on Mysore- Nanjangud Road on Wednesday.
The last rites performed according to Veerashaiva rituals, was supervised by Suttur Seer Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra and junior pontiff of Siddaganga Mutt, Tumkur, Seer Sri Siddalinga.
Earlier armed cops accorded state honour to the departed soul.  The mortal remains decorated with tricolour was brought in a procession from his residence on Ramanuja Road to the mutt.

Prominent among the dignitaries who paid their last respects were- Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa, Medical Education and District In-charge Minister S A Ramdas, Excise Minister M P Renukacharya, MLA V Sreenivas Prasad, Dr B R Ambedkar Development Corporation Chairman A R Krishnamurthy, Border Areas Development Authority Chairman Chandrakanth Bellad, former minister B Somashekar, former MLC C Ramesh and several others.Gurupadaswamy was undergoing treatment at a hospital in Bangalore for age related ailments, before breathing his last.
The place
Mallanmoole Mutt situated beside river Kapila was chosen for the funeral of MSG as M S Gurupadaswamy was popular as, for the reason that he was one among the tall leaders of the community, along with M Rajashekarmurthy, from old Mysore region. Murthy was laid to rest at Mariyala Mutt in Chamarajanagar district. Moreover, the followers of MSG had decided about the site six months ago and had also obtained the nod of their leader.
