The noted economist and former Ficci secretary general was stable and there was no cause for worry, said Belle Vue Clinic administrator P.K. Tondon.
Mitra, who took oath as minister Friday, complained of abdominal pain at around 1 a.m. while returning home after a long working day.
The 63-year-old former industry lobbyist was rushed to the nursing home immediately and admitted to the Intensive Therapy Unit.
“He is a patient of colitis. There is no cause for worry. He is stable and improving gradually,” said a nursing home official.
“He is undergoing a thorough check-up and detailed examination. We will keep him under observation for 48 hours,” the official said.
