The Commercial Street Police on Tuesday said articles including gold worth Rs 30 lakh had been recovered.

The police said that five of the six were arrested near Dickenson Road, based on intelligence reports that they were hatching a plan to loot a house near the military quarters there.

“We had concrete information that they were present there and on apprehending them, we found that they had in their possession a lighter, a sword, a knife besides the three bikes they had come on, all of which were seized.” And based on the information provided by the five during interrogation, police arrested Sunny Slim.

During the interrogation, the police also found that the gang has been indulging in dacoity and theft for the last seven to eight months and that they had stolen things from a pawn broker’s shop in Austin Town, threatened and stolen money from an individual while he was on his way to deposit money at a bank in Frazer Town and stolen money from some bars near Cambridge Layout and Thippasandra.

Based on information provided by them, police recovered about 1.4 kg of gold articles, 143 gm of silver articles, an autorickshaw and a bike purchased using the money they had stolen, and about Rs 1.2 lakh in cash.

There are two cases against the gang in the Indiranagar police station and one each at Ashoknagar and Pulakeshinagar stations. Police say the arrests also averted an attack on a realtor who was about to wrap up a Rs six-crore deal.
