M'rashtra seeks waiver on Kasab security bill

Last Updated 31 May 2011, 17:57 IST

Kasab, who has been sentenced to death by a special court for his role in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, has been under close guard of the ITBP for past two years. The terrorist himself is confined to a bomb-proof cell inside the jail, fearing attempts on his life by Pakistani terror outfits.

Last week, the ITBP sent a Rs 10-crore bill towards expenses for protecting Kasab. An incensed state government decided to relieve the ITBP of its duty and replace it with the state police squad.
