Misappropriation of funds in Sringeri TP alleged

 Addressing the protestors, Block Congress President Sowbhagya Gopalan alleged that Taluk Panchayat Executive Officer Kantharaj and BEO Prasanna Kumar had created a bogus tender during the purchase of furniture to the school. A sum of Rs 5.5 lakh was sanctioned to the school under the 13th Financial Project for the year 2009-10. However, there was misappropriation of funds while purchasing the furnitures.

Another protestor said that the EO has also cheated the farmers by not approving the scheme to distribute Appe Midi mango saplings to the farmers under MGNREGS. The protestors met the Tahsildar and submitted files which revealed the misappropriation in the tender.

The protestors explained the misappropriation in buying tables to three high schools in the taluk. Three tables of acacia tree of 10X4 were bought for Rs 40,000 while the tables of 8X4 length were bought for Rs 60,000. The  bill obtained from Ganesh Wood Industries shows that each table costs Rs 9,500.

They urged Tahsildar Jagadish to ask for  an explanation from the officers.
