Bhimchand outplayed Tamil Nadu’s Vignesh Kumar to win by points while his team enjoyed a brilliant day, claiming five more titles to take home the overall championships for boys.
Quick to identify Vignesh’s weakness in defence, the Pune lad exploited it to maximum use in the first round itself unleashing a series of punches to take the early momentum. Rocked by the early setback, Vignesh’s efforts to post any recovery in the second round went up in smoke when Bhimchand surprised him with his stinging left.
While the battle intensified in the final round, the three judges had no problems in awarding the bout to Bhimchand, who also ran away with the best boxer award.
The team championship for the girls was won by the Tamil Nadu with the hosts’ Kavana emerging as the best boxer.
